Frequently asked Questions

Am I able to ride a motorbike or drive a four wheel drive or beach buggy on the beaches or in the sand dunes on Yorke Peninsula?

Much of the land around the coast is privately owned and permission to enter this land must be sought from the relevant owners. Unless sign posted otherwise, these vehicles are only allowed to ride up the beach and not over the dunes or other sensitive areas. Road rules apply along the beach – helmets must be worn on motorbikes, seat belts must be worn, vehicles must be registered and drivers must be appropriately licenced.

Our coastal environment is sensitive and fragile, providing important habitat for fauna. Breaches of appropriate, lawful behaviour should be reported to the nearest police station.
