Yorke Peninsula is in the enviable position of being almost surrounded by magnificent coastline with everything from wide, white sandy beaches and crystal clear water to picturesque sheer cliffs with crashing waves, fantastic surf and perfect underwater environments to support all manner of fascinating creatures, including the elusive leafy seadragon.
Bound by this rich marine environment is some of the finest farming land in Australia. Heralded as the 'Barley Capital of the World', the saying goes that in every Australian beer, and many from overseas, you'll take a little sip of Yorke Peninsula through some of the world's best malting barley grown right here! A predominantly agricultural region, you'll find an interesting mixture of crops filling the paddocks, top quality wool, lamb chops and beef steaks in the making, alpacas providing fabulously warm fibres and breeding stocks and even a couple of vineyards.
